Corporate Computerized Information System of "Saint-Petersburg National International Telephone"

"Saint-Petersburg National International Telephone" ("SPB NIT") is Russia's oldest and North-West Russia's largest long-distance and international phone service operator. The company already celebrated its centenary , and currently employs more than 2000 staff. "SPB NIT" serves more that 1.5 million customers, both corporate and private.

Project Goals

The main goals of the Corporate Computerized Information System (CCIS) project were enhancing staff's performance and improving quality of management decision-making.

Project Description

The core of the project was the Computerized Billing System (CBS). "SPB NIT" made a decision to develop the system in December 1993.

The CBS was aimed at completing the following tasks:

Services accounting
Regulatory and reference information support
Claims registration
Technical statistics
Settlements with customers
Settlements with partners

The CBS supports credit, pre-paid and combined payment systems and provides a flexible tariff system based on individual tariffs plans, i.e. individual service plans for each customer at their choice (customers are free to choose from hundreds of tariffs plans).

The second component of the CCIS was the Financial Planning System (FPS) comprising the following modules:

Source payment documents generation and records
Assets
Purchase ledger
Personnel
Payroll
Inventory accounting
General ledger and balance sheet

The CCIS also includes the Communications Technical Support System (CTSS) incorporating the following subsystems:

Numbering zones
Area and destination codes
Communications centers and stations
Secondary networks channels
Area and destination connection routes
